The Sainsbury Centre set us a brief to design products to sell in their shop, inspired by the artefacts of the centre. I created a silent book inspired by the “Little Dancer” sculpture. Marie van Goethem was only 14 when she was forced to pose nude for Degas’ sculpture, and she tragically faced sexual exploitation along with the other girls at her ballet school. My story follows Marie as the Centre comes to life at night, with the other characters attempting to help her overcome her trauma and dance again.
